Viskaļu iela 16 - Rīgas TEC-1

Historical building of Riga TEC-1 thermal power plant was built from 1954 to 1958. Back then until Pļaviņas hydro electric plant was built, it was largest power plant in Latvia. Nowadays TEC-2 is relocated to the new building nearby and this historical building stays abandoned. Even worse - state's electric company plans to demolish the building - and the 2 towers you see in the photo are already torned down :(. It's provoked a resistance from locals who insist that some other, perhaps a culture use (like Tate modern art museum in London) could be applied to the building which is a landmark of nearby surroundings.
Rīgas TEC-1 vēsturiskā ēka uzcelta laikā no 1954. līdz 1958. gadam, līdz Pļaviņu HES uzbūvēšanai tā bija lielākā elektrostacija Latvijā.
