Entrance of Benjamin's house

Benjamin's house nowadays is Europe Royale Hotel but in interwar period it belonged to local media magnats - Benjamin's couple. There is a story that in one of their posh parties (where tables were laden with foods and drinks), famous prophet Eižens Finks told Emilija Benjamin (at that time one of the wealthiest womans in Europe) that she will die from starvation. She banished Finks from the party. But later it turned out true - when Soviets came in 1940, Emilija Benjamin was one of those sent to Siberia, and there she really died in cold and hunger. Here you can read about her.
