"Citadele" bank office | Republikas laukums 2a - bankas "Citadele" biroju ēka

"Citadele" bank office building was built in 2009, initially as a office for Parex bank which came close to bankrupcty in the turmoil of global financial crysis and got nationalized and later restructured into two banks ("Citadele" as a "good" one and "Reverta" as a "bad" one). The building has built after the project of German architect Meinhard von Gerkan who was born in Riga in 1935 and has also projected Berlin's new Central station building, Moscow's Sheremetyevo airport, etc. significant buildings. Building is built in place of former multistorey car parking. It's 4 sections is meant as a modern paraphrasis of 4 pavillions of Riga Central Market which is located at the opposite side of Old Town. "Citadele" bank building costs were about 75 million EUR - ironically enough that the bank itself (to be precise, 75% of it's shares) was sold to American investors by the same amount of money back in 2013.

Republikas laukums 2a - bankas "Citadele" biroju ēka. "Citadeles" bankas biroja ēka uzbūvēta 2009. gadā, sākotnēji kā jaunā "Parex" biroju ēka. Ēkas arhitekts ir Rīgā 1935. gadā dzimušais vācu arhitekts Meinhards fon Gerkāns, kurš projektējis arī jauno Berlīnes dzelzceļa staciju, Maskavas Šeremetjevas lidostu un citas nozīmīgas būves visā pasaulē. "Citadeles" ēka ir uzbūvēta bijušās autostāvvietas vietā. Tās 4 sekcijas esot mūsdienīga parafrāze par Vecrīgas otrā pusē esošajiem 4 Centrāltirgus paviljoniem. Ēkas celtniecības izmaksas sasniedza ap 75 miljoniem eiro, un interesanti, ka pati "Citadeles" banka (75% tās daļu) 2013. gadā tika pārdota amerikāņu investoriem par šādu summu.
