Biķernieku church is a church in Eastern outskirts of Riga. It's fairly old - built in 1766. Legend tells that in this place some farmer offered a cup (or a goblet which is "biķeris" in Latvian) of water to Russian empress Catherine The Great, thus she decided there must be church built here and hence the name "biķernieku".
