St Pavil's Lutheran church | Svētā Pāvila luterāņu baznīca (Deglava iela 1)

Saint Pavil's Lutheran church. St Pavil's church is a central dominante in Avoti area (south-eastern part of centre). It's been built in 1887, in English Gothic (apparently, Neo-Gothic) style. The church in Riga context is interesting with it's location - on the end point of several streets, such planning can be more often observed in Western European cities. Also the architecture - English NeoGothic - is rather unusual for Riga. Interesting that the church was a co-work of architects father and the son - Gustav Hilbig and Hermann Hilbig. Gustav died short before (in the same year) the church was finished - and so his son finished the father's work.
