Švarcmuiža manor

Švarcmuiža manor is the birthplace of Āgenskalns historical district. Švarcmuiža manor was initially called Hagen manor and the word "Āgenskalns" has originated from it (it was initially called Hagensberg and then Latvianized). However this is not the original Hagens manor though; it was burnt down along with many others Āgenskalns buildings in 1812, when Napoleon army approached Riga.

  1. Lovely looking old place... you must have taken this last winter... lol!

  2. Actually, this is from 2009/2010 winter :)

  3. I'd be thrilled if I could claim that beautiful manor as my own Hagen Manor!
    Great color and architectural details!
Kind regards from EAGAN daily photo
